Alan

Counsellor

My approach to counselling is based on creating a safe space where we can work together to better understand the challenges you face. As your counsellor, I will accept and value your individual experience, being honest and open with you and working together to understand things from your viewpoint. Young people I work with often comment on how they appreciate feeling listened to and not judged and this is how you too can start to bring about positive change of your own. I work with young people who come to counselling for a variety of reasons, each with their own unique story. So, whether you are having trouble managing emotions such as anger, or you are experiencing anxiety that is impacting on your ability to do the things you would like to do, we can work together and start to find a way forward. I also work with young people who have experienced the loss of someone close to them.

Specialisms/Interests: Away from counselling I enjoy being outdoors, cycling and swimming, listening to music and making my own art.

David

Counsellor

Hello everyone. My name is David and I am a child and adolescent Psychotherapist. I’ve been practicing for over 7 years and have worked in schools and therapeutic groups, as well as private practice, supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing. I am an integrative practitioner, which means my training covered many of the different models and practices of psychotherapy, but through my experience I have developed my own model of working; adopting different ways of working and integrating them into my unique practice. I believe the relationship between a client and their therapist is the most important component in what we provide, with a strong relationship comes trust and the security to be brave enough to make those changes which changes lives. In the background I’m also thinking with theories like attachment, internal working models, transference and containment to help me understand my clients histories and how those are shaping their present. I also believe that play is a key element of the human experience and I look for ways to bring that in to my work, whether that’s through games, art music. I have worked with young people of all ages, from 4 all the way to adulthood, but I have the most experience working with adolescent boys which was something that fuelled my interest in helping young people who don’t have their Dads in their lives. I believe that supporting and nurturing our mental health is key to helping us lives full lives and making the most of our potential, whatever that may be. One of the reasons I decided I wanted to work with young people was because it was something I didn’t have access to when I was young. I feel it would have been really helpful and so I wanted to give that opportunity to others. I live in London and apart from my work as a Psychotherapist I enjoy playing Bass Guitar, woodworking, videogames and hanging out with my cat Pebbles.

Life can throw such challenges at young people and it can be hard to overcome these at times. Together we can make sense of the things we discuss and build greater self-awareness. You might find yourself feeling down but not knowing why or sometimes it can be hard to verbalise how we are feeling so I find working creatively can often help to show us these emotions. However, I am always led by my clients and provide a safe, warm and nurturing environment to allow your feelings to surface in a way that feels comfortable for you. I offer a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and together we can draw on the different counselling tools to help you learn how to deal with the challenging times in a more positive way.

Specialisms/Interests: I am a registered counsellor with BACP and I have been working with children and young people since qualifying as a Counsellor in 2016.

Lorraine

Specialisms/Interests:

Daniela

Counsellor

Hello, I’m Daniela, a creative, humanistic counsellor supporting children, young people, and adults. I have over eight years of experience working in educational settings, where I’ve supported children and young people facing school-related stress, emotional overwhelm, identity exploration, and challenges related to neurodivergence. I also work with clients experiencing grief, loss, and feelings of isolation. Where appropriate, I integrate creative methods such as art and craft, online sandtrays, imagery, and mindfulness techniques. These tools can help access feelings that may be hard to express with words alone. My approach is especially suited to those who feel misunderstood, unseen or disconnected from themselves. Together, we work towards greater self-acceptance, confidence, and a deeper sense of agency and choice. At the heart of my work is the belief that no one should struggle alone, and that everyone deserves to feel seen, understood, and valued — just as they are, without judgement. In my free time, you’ll find me running, reading, being creative, spending time with my family, or curled up with my two cats.

Specialisms/Interests: Emotional overwhelm, anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, identity, neurodivergence, grief, loneliness, and feeling misunderstood.

I’m not very good at opening up or trusting people, so it felt so nice to have someone to talk to. My counsellor listened to me and the conversation never felt forced or anything. It also meant that I didn’t feel like I was putting so much stress and stuff on to my family. ”
